What a lovely way to spend time! We had so much fun hanging out as a team collaging. Max is an ideal host. So welcoming, helpful and knowledgable, but also gives you plenty of space to just enjoy your own process. The space itself is vibrant and inviting. Thanks for having us!

Always a great time coming here for a session. Love the space and the creativity that happens. The space is so inspiring. I have been a number of times and each time is just as great as the last. I highly recommend giving collaging a go at That Paper Joint - on your own or with your friend/s. Max and Zoe are lovely and you feel so comfortable.

My friend and I attended as part of a girls night out and it was wonderful! Max, the instructor, was extremely knowledgeable and great at judging where our skill levels were and gently guiding us up to the next one in line with the pieces we were working on. The atmosphere he created was soothing and fun. Highly recommend to anyone who’s wanting to try this as a new craft, get back into or have a fun night!

Elsie Daddow May 2026

I did a cut and paste class with my best friend as we both wanted to get into a new craft. The session was great. The vibes in the studio were relaxed and fun, with good snacks and music. Max did a great job guiding the session in a way that balanced listening/learning with exploring and getting lost in the art. Max was also really good at making suggestions and giving us a different perspective on our work without being overbearing. Getting to see everyone's work on the projector at the end helped make it feel like we'd achieved something cool. We're already planning on going back for another session. Would highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to try something fun, low-key and super creative.

I have been wanting to do a collage workshop here for a while and booked with a friend hoping for a fun, creative Friday evening. It surpassed my expectations - a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the most stimulating of surroundings led by a teacher who paced it perfectly, guided with the lightest of touches and gave us the space and confidence to let our creative imaginations loose. Delicious snacks were provided and we brought our own bottle of wine. I can't wait to come back for me and enjoyed it from start to finish. I had the pleasure of attending a Cut and Paste Collage class with a friend. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted warmly and I was taken by how beautiful and whimsical the space is. Instruction during the class was really clear without creating too much structure and I had a great time getting lost in the process of creating collage. I particularly enjoyed the opportunities to both create a physical hard-copy but also experiment with arranging and scanning collages.

It was for a birthday present. Marla and I (Marla's mum) learnt badge making and collage techniques. The teacher was really helpful with ideas and suggestions. The atmosphere was friendly and casual, it was so homely smelling the baking and the lovely afternoon tea. The best thing was doing a creative activity and the guidance to learn techniques.

Max and Zoe from The Paper Joint know how to host a great time, whether it’s in their studio or at the pub. They demonstrate that even with basic tools and old books magazines junk mail or anything paper-like you can express your creativity and create a unique piece of art.
seeing everyone’s creations at the end on the projector is always the most inspiring and exciting part.

What a fabulous, fun and creative way to spend a Friday evening! 'That Paper Joint' is a magical location full of artistic inspiration and a great space just to let yourself play with paper. My adult son and I decided to do this during a trip to Melbourne and I'm so glad we did, definitely a highlight of our time here with great souvenirs that won't take up space in a suitcase! The facilitation/tutoring was pitched at the perfect level and the delicious snacks were an added bonus. Thank you so much!

Jessie Upton Mar 2026

This is my second movie night that I've attended. The vibe is very chill and quiet. It is such a nice relaxed atmosphere, I really enjoy it. Both times I've attended with a friend but it would also be a fine environment to go solo. Mostly, you quietly make while watching a film. There are lots of great places nearby that you can get dinner from - a few will deliver on foot to the shop or you can bring your own snacks. Thank you That Paper Joint for generously hosting these nights!
