What you'll do
Wine Club is a monthly event held at Workshop POP, led by wine aficionados Freddie Raimbaud and Emma Shaw. Wine Club is a social, relaxed and approachable space to learn, discover and enjoy all things wine.
Freddie is a French sommelier and wine educator, and Emma is a student winemaker working in the local Canberra wine region. Together they bring their knowledge, experience and love of European and local wine to POP. Join us as we gather monthly to sit back, snack on cheese and chat wine!
Freddie and Emma will bring one bottle of wine each to share and discuss – one European, one local. We’ll notify you of the wines beforehand, so you can purchase them ahead of time and try them at home. Or you can just turn up and taste the wines with us on the night.
The conversation will be relaxed and we’ll be guided by the questions and topics people want to explore. It’s just like a book club – but for wine!
January/ February 2021 Wine Club wine:
- Freddie's wine selection: 2019 Château La Valetanne, Rosé, Côtes de Provence
- Emma's wine selection: 2019 Mada Pinot Gris
December 2020 Wine Club wine:

My Name is Freddie. I'm from France, I arrived in Australia 14 years ago. Wine has always been part of my life from a young age, so naturally I embraced a career in hospitality as a sommelier for the last 20 years, and have been a wine educator alla round the world. I created my wine business one year ago because I love to share my passion for wine and give people some tools to be able to build their own wine journey. Wine is an experience, a souvenir, an emotion.
Emma Shaw / Pique Nique:
I’m a student winemaker working in the local Canberra wine region. I’m passionate about people appreciating and feeling confident with wine, and I’m a huge supporter of our local wine industry. The premium wines of this region are world class, and I just love to share them and their stories with wine lovers.

Workshop POP by POP Canberra is an inclusive community space, where locals can connect over creativity, knowledge and social engagement.
