Ceramic Decorating Workshop: Whales

Our class had 2 teachers, both welcoming, knowledgeable and supportive.

Wheel throwing isn’t easy but it was fun and everyone made items by the end of the 5 weeks. For me the glazing, week 5, was the most enjoyable class. Met some lovely people too!

Beginnner wheel throwing

Matilda was an excellent teacher both in technique and relationally. The class was well thought out and structured and allowed students to create considerable amount of items, learning along the way. She was enthusiastic about all creations and made people feel like they were achieving.

She made the class social, relaxed, fun and really enjoyable.

I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn how to throw.

It’s a really well Executed class -a good pace and I liked how we got to experiment at the start to produce something and then had each stage explained across a number of classes.

Thanks so much. I just wish I could keep coming. There is something very therapeutic about creating like this.

This is a fantastic class, a wonderful way to get to know wheel throwing, trimming and glazing. The teachers are very experienced and super helpful and supportive of each student. The studio is very accessible, clean and organised. We had amazing results. I would definitely recommend this course if you are thinking of giving pottery a go!

Loved the 5 week Beginner’s Pottery Wheel course! The group class is so much fun and covered everything from working a lump of clay to glazing your creations. Amy and her team are great teachers and super encouraging. As an absolute beginner, I expected to maybe come away with a wonky bowl or plate, but instead I completed a number of plates, bowls and little vases for the kiln. Immensely satisfying and highly addictive as am now looking other Deep Blue Ceramic classes.

I received this class as a gift and had the best time! Bron was an incredible instructor and taught us different techniques to make whatever we wanted. I chose to make a mug and had plenty of support to help me make it great, as well as understanding how to avoid it being damaged. It was a great atmosphere of everyone learning something new and getting to be creative! Would highly recommend to anyone for a fun new activity!

Clay Play Class: Ceramic Boob Mugs

Imogen was a great teacher, kind and patient and very helpful. She gave us lots of tips during the class and was super encouraging and supportive.

We did pinch pots first and then coil pots which we painted and decorated for firing. The time flew by and we made whatever we wanted to in the time available. It was relaxed and fun and very enjoyable. We’ll pick up our “masterpieces” up in four weeks time so we are looking forward to that! I did the class with my adult daughter and I can highly recommend it!

Pottery Painting Class

Such a relaxing atmosphere, a more peaceful alternative to pottery-making in our experience! Really appreciated our teacher's reminders of how much time was left. Lots of variety in pieces to choose from. Super helpful teacher, offered lots of guidance and suggestions while also letting us figure it out as we went! Would definitely come back.

We had a blast with Amy doing our first attempts at wheel pottery. Amy was a great instructor giving us lots of guides on how it will feel and what we can expect. She also made sure we understood that mistakes are part of the process. Which overall improved our confidence.

The booking took us quite a while to lock down dates and the team were so great via email until we finally landed on the right timing.

The beginner wheel throwing class was a great five week program that went through a variety of skills. It was a nice balance between trying something new and being slightly challenged by the clay.

Kate was an incredible teacher, taking the time to help each of us as required. Everyone in the class was so nice and welcoming.

It was fun taking the opportunity to experiment and just enjoy the process.

From the moment my daughters and I were greeted by Amy and Immi we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable! Stepping into the Deep Blue Ceramics studio felt like a little holiday where we could be creative and supported while having lots of fun along the way! We learnt lots of new skills and the kids maintained interest the whole time… they loved painting their finished products at the end! The access to a coffee machine and platter of fruit and biscuits was a lovely treat! We left with a great sense of pride in our work and very happy kids. We would love to continue throughout the school term!
