What you'll do
Our Line Dance Beginners Course is designed for those without prior Line Dance experience. We teach the basics, assuming no prior knowledge.
Our course differs from typical “beginner” Line Dance classes, which are usually for those with some experience at the beginner level, often having danced beginner routines for years.
Participants will confidently dance several easy beginner routines right from the first class.
Over the next 8 weeks, students will learn additional dance sequences, preparing them to join most “beginner” Line Dance classes in the community.
Course breakdown:
Week 1: Introduction to line dancing – “walls, ” “counts, ” 1st simple steps – “vine, ” “heel struts, ” “side mambo.” Learn 3 dances.
Week 2: Repeat week 1 dances. More basic steps – “V step, ” “Charleston, ” “lock step.” Learn 2 more dances.
Week 3: Basic waltz steps, quarter turns. Learn 2 waltz dances.
Week 4: Half-turn waltz, plus revision.
Week 5: Basic rhumba steps – practise with a new dance.
Week 6: Cha Cha steps – with a new dance. Revision.
Week 7: Jazz box steps – with a new dance. More revision.
Week 8: Info on finding Line Dance classes and websites for stepsheets and dances. Dance all the learned routines.
