Book in your function, class or project at this charming old-world woodworking workshop.
There is a blackboard, powerpoints on walls and hanging from the ceiling, old-warehouse concrete flooring, an accessible bathroom with a sink (cold water only) and 3 street parking spaces (1 of which is accessible parking) available outside of store opening hours (store open wed-sat 10-4).
There are 10 workbenches, all second hand or made from reclaimed materials, they can be used with 10 students at social distancing, or 20 students if there are two students per bench. The workbenches can be moved against the walls for a 35m2 open floor area.
This workshop has front street access through double doors (a small ramp from the street/parking area) and is next to the Among the Trees reclaimed timber shop (separated by double glass doors).
The workshop is stocked with second-hand tools and woodworking equipment (all tools have been restored and sharpened) that can be used as part of the space hire for an additional cost, for more information please send us an email.
The floor and workbenches can get dirty but must be returned to a clean state matching that of the start of the space hire (brooms, mops, and dustpans are in the workshop) if you are planning to do painting we ask that you bring in tablecloths to protect the workbenches.

Among the Trees is an ethical and sustainability based start-up for reclaimed timber located in Marrickville.
Saving timber from demolitions or other discarded uses and making it available to the public through a retail timber shop and woodworking classes. Accessibility to wood doesn't just mean being wheelchair friendly (which we are), it also means helping customers understand how to use and source reclaimed timber. To make it as easy as possible to work with, we offer custom machining and glueing, so the timber in our store can be squared, resurfaced and cut to specific dimensions. We also help empower individuals to have the confidence to undertake woodworking projects by offering woodworking beginners classes that are taught with simple hand tools.

Our workshop at Among The Trees is set up to be the perfect space to learn about hand tools, reclaimed timber, and woodworking. We’ve been hard at work collecting, restoring and tuning all the tools required to learn woodworking, and a few extra ones as well.
