What you'll do
In this fun drawing and painting class you will experiment with traditional drawing materials such as charcoal and paper, then move onto acrylic or oil paint. However, if you really want to learn pastel for example, we will move immediately onto that medium.
You will experiment with linear and tonal composition and observational measuring before moving onto colour. You will explore colour through some basic photocopied material and practical colour mixing. The style will be representational, but not overtly academic. It is more important for beginners to perceive volume and tone correctly than it is to make a realistic drawing.
The session will begin with a studio setup and a basic demonstration by myself. You will then execute a work. I will supervise progress throughout the lesson. You will be working on your own piece of paper or canvas for the duration of the lesson after the initial demonstration.
I am also interested in teaching the process behind 3d painting and perspective. This involves basic geomeyry, perspective and technical drawing. Ages 10 and up.

The students will receive basic proficiency in perceiving tone and in basic measuring. They will also receive basic instruction on colour and how to set up a palette. They will also get instruction in how to set up a studio. They will get completed works for folio presentation or exhibition.
What to bring
Initially, you will not need anything as I will supply paper and charcoal. As they progress, you will need to buy a few basic painting materials. These materials will not cost more than $100

I am a visual artist with more than 20 years experience in drawing and painting. I have worked and exhibited in South Korea and Italy and have completed individual projects in the US, Qatar and NZ. I have a postgraduate degree in visual arts. Since 2008, I have been a lead artist for Zest Events International specialising in 3d trompe l'oeil painting and drawing. I have taught drawing and perspective at UNSW and Trinity College in Sydney. I am based in Gosford. I exhibit in Australia and Singapore.
