Cross Stitch Embroidery Class for Beginners

Embroidery can be a daunting hobby, but it doesn't have to be! Learn how to cross-stitch from an experienced and avid cross-stitcher (Emily). This class is beginner friendly and includes a complete cross-stitch kit to get started.

Cross-stitching is considered one of the easier types of decorative stitching, however, there are always a few tricks to learn and pitfalls to avoid! Cross-stitch has been increasing in popularity recently, as people look for alternatives to screen time and something they can do while chatting with family and friends (or listening to podcasts).

There is also a huge range of patterns to choose from! There are traditional cottagecore to snarky, and a huge range of fandom designs. This two-hour class will get you started on the basics of creating nice neat stitches, pattern reading and managing materials. The class also comes with a set of basic cross-stitching materials for you to take home at the end of the class.

Water, tea and coffee are available - but it's recommended you don't bring food to eat during the class as you could spoil your cross-stitch.

Accessibility information: unfortunately our workshop is on the first floor and is only accessible via stairs. Due to the heritage and design of the building, it is infeasible to add a wheelchair lift, as much as we'd like to. We hope that in the future we can grow large enough to move into a bigger and more accessible building.

Absolute beginners welcome!
  A full set of basic cross-stitching supplies to use and take home afterwards.
  Please bring your glasses if you wear them, but nothing else is needed.
