What you'll do
Looking for unique things to do in Newcastle? Learn the art of shibori and indigo dyeing in this fun and relaxing workshop!
In this small group workshop, we will explore Japanese shibori techniques. Shibori dyeing is a way of making patterns on fabric by exposing only some portions of the fabric to dye. Tie, pinch, fold, concertina, clamp and stitch your fabric, then dye it.
This workshop is a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes and have fun learning how to continue these traditional crafts.
Feel free to bring any small fabrics that you want to dye (preferably cotton), however, you will be provided with two cotton napkins to dye and all the materials and equipment needed.
At the end of the hands-on workshop, you'll have your own hand-dyed pieces and all the skills to continue this fun craft at home!
