What you'll do
Enter the hidden and exciting world of native Australian insects in this fun and uniquely designed watercolour painting class in Brisbane!
Join local illustrator Carlie Edwards from Earthdrawn Studio as she guides you through painting butterflies, bees, ladybirds and dragonflies, introducing you to different methods for mixing and applying watercolours.
Creating something that you’ll be proud to hang in your home, you’ll learn lots of tips for using colour and detail in your insect images for maximum impact.
Over two hours, you will learn:
- How to apply watercolours
- Tools and techniques to achieve special effects
- Colour mixing, colour theory and how to choose colours for your artwork
Working in a chilled studio environment, you’ll soon be lost in the painting process. Enjoy playing with vivid colours to bring our well-loved fluttery friends to life, or you may like to paint your own colour combinations.
Along with all art materials, morning tea will also be provided to enjoy while you learn.
You’ll finish this mindful and creative class with two wonderful artworks, as well as many new watercolour skills to carry forward to future projects.

Earthdrawn Studio is based in sunny Queensland and was founded by watercolour and pencil artist, Carlie Edwards.
Growing up among the bush and beach in Byron Bay is the foundation and inspiration behind much of Carlie’s work, which has a high focus on gorgeous Australian wildlife.
Earthdrawn Studio offers a range of gorgeously fun and flowy art classes, drawing you into an enchanting world of colour, imagination and intricate details.
