What you'll do
Photorealism isn't scary! If you've ever looked at a photorealistic painting and wondered, how the hell did they do that? Then this online class with Genevieve Felix Reynolds is for you!
In this beginner class, we'll demystify photorealistic painting, by walking through the traditional techniques it employs, step by step. While we paint, you'll also learn a bit about this style of painting, including how and why it has developed over the years.
You'll be using acrylic paints, so clean up afterwards will be easy. In order to simplify the process, we'll be working in monochrome, so that the final painting will resemble a black and white photograph.
By the end of this class, you'll have translated a photo into a painting for you to proudly display or gift to a loved one.
We're starting at the beginning. All levels welcome!

Paints, brushes, primed canvas, a palette, and a few other necessary tools we'll prepare for you.

I'm a professional artist based in Sydney, exhibiting across Sydney, Melbourne and the USA. I also teach visual art part-time at university.
In my painting practice I combine multiple styles, including photo-realism, abstraction and collage. I offer beginner classes across these varied styles of picture-making, focussing on breaking down painting into simple, replicable techniques.
During our class we'll create unique, contemporary artworks that reflect your individuality. By the end of the workshop, you will have the skills to continue your own art practice beyond the classroom, as well as a deeper understanding of contemporary art and art history.
