In this hands-on wheel throwing course, you'll discover the basics skills of ceramics over a six-week period. Designed for beginners and those eager to delve deeper into the world of pottery, this course is the perfect opportunity to learn the art of wheel throwing.
Throughout the course, you'll be guided through the following step-by-step techniques allowing you to create a range of beautiful pottery pieces:
  • Week 1: Basic cylinder shapes, wedging, centring the clay on the wheel
  • Week 2: Bowls and clay recycling
  • Week 3: Mugs, clay theory, quirky shapes
  • Week 4: Vases and making with intention
  • Week 5: Trimming and attaching handles
  • Week 6: Glazing!
Our small class sizes and one-on-one feedback mean you'll receive plenty of individual attention and guidance, which is perfect for any complete beginner to join.
During each two-hour session, you'll be provided with your own bag of clay, apron, tools, and, most importantly, a pottery wheel to work on. By immersing yourself in this hands-on experience, you'll not only learn the art of wheel throwing, but you'll also get plenty of time to practice and ignite your creativity.
At the end of the course, you'll have newfound skills under your belt and a collection of beautiful pottery pieces to take home.
