Tap into your creative side and learn the art of glass fusing in Melbourne!
This is an intensive and hands-on class where you will learn glass fusing skills and knowledge targeted at enabling you to make a beautiful glass vase - or platter if you prefer.
During this class, you will learn the basics of glass fusing plus techniques like how to cut glass using mosaic cutters, freehand scorers and a glass cutting system. You will then put these techniques into practice and create your own unique fused glass vase or platter.
Making a vase or a platter uses the same technique for both processes - so you can decide on the day what you want to make. We recommend a regular size vase, but if you want to go big, you can make a bigger platter or bowl.
This class is targeted at people with no or limited glass fusing experience, so beginners are very welcome. You will learn to make a stunning glass vase - or platter! Perfect for a centrepiece for your own home, a special gift or even a wedding gift.
You can make a regular size vase or a larger platter or bowl, depending on your budget and preference.
If you would like to schedule your session during weekdays we are very flexible and can accept as little as 2 bookings during a weekday as we have capacity to work with you even if there are just 2 of you. You can request to book in at 10am or at 1.30pm weekdays this way for your session.
You will leave your piece here for firing and it will be ready for pickup about 3-4 weeks after the workshop

  • 5/5 from Louise Porteous, attended Jan 2026: Fused glass platter class. Gigi explained everything beautifully, and we had lots of fun creating our designs. Easy to do, just a shame we have to wait for the firing. I would do this class again and highly recommend it. We always enjoy Meryl's classes. Great atmosphere.
  • 5/5 from Catherine Cross, attended Jan 2026: This was my first experience working on a 'Fused Glass' art piece and it certainly wont be my last! The tutor was knowledgable, relaxed, supportive and extremely patient with students new to the medium. I chose to make the largest platter and created a design that required a lot of time to carefully cut the glass, however, the tutor graciously gave me some extra time to complete my design while she set up for another session. I can't wait to collect it after it is fired!
  • 5/5 from Deborah Showers, attended Dec 2025: We had a lovely time making our creations. We Ned to wait for them to be fired and have the big reveal of what they look like. Highly recommend Merryl’s classes. It’s my second one and both have been great.
  • 5/5 from Sam Hayes, attended Nov 2025: Fun and eat to do. Great way to spend a few hours. Meryl is fantastic and very helpful! You won’t regret going!
  • 5/5 from Wendy Dodds, attended Nov 2025: A brilliant day. I loved it. It was a birthday gift from my sister and the hardest part of the gift was choosing which class to do initially. The huge variety of types of classes really means I just have to go back for more. The fused glass workshop was well set up, the teachers were excellent, they had the knack of allowing us our own ideas while still being able to make suggestions that would only improve our final object. Now I have to curb my impatience while I wait for my platter to be fired in the kiln. A fun day, I will be back for more in the new year. Don't be afraid if you do not know anything about fusing glass. You will by the end of the day. Don't dither any longer, just go, take a friend or just get lost in the fun of the day by yourself.
  • 5/5 from Michelle Whytcross, attended Nov 2025: A fantastic way to spend the afternoon. The teachers were excellent - helpful and knowledgeable. I’m very excited to get my finished platter next week and see how the optical illusion turned out.
  • 5/5 from Naama Dobelsky, attended Nov 2025: Merryl and Keely were kind, informative and highly supportive throughout the session. I enjoyed the process of learning how it works and I thought Merryl explained it really well. I really enjoyed the freedom despite it being a structured class.
  • 5/5 from Kathy Prince, attended Oct 2025: Having not done any glass fusing at all it was a bit overwhelming at the beginning. We were a little put off that we booked a private class and thought it would just be the two of us however it did work out very well. We chose what we thought was the easiest for us and there was plenty of choice. Merryl was very helpful and positive. We are excited to see our finished products and then decide on whether we could manage a slightly more difficult design (we secretly hope we can). It was a lovely afternoon after being very apprehensive about whether we could do it.Thanks so much
