Introduction to Sustainable Floristry
Try Flower School for a Day — Special One-Off Workshop
Curious about floristry but not ready to commit to a full course?
This special one-off workshop gives you the opportunity to experience Week One of our 8-Week Career Change Course at a reduced introductory price — perfect if you’d like to try Flower School before committing to the full program.
Come along for a creative afternoon surrounded by flowers, meet Bel, discover how our Flower School works and get a real taste of what it's like to learn floristry in a professional, sustainable flower business.
And if you love it, you can continue your journey with us and join the full 8-week course at a reduced rate.
What you'll experience
At Botaniculture, flowers start in the ground — not in a bucket.
We work with locally grown, seasonal flowers, freshly picked from our own farm or thoughtfully sourced from nearby growers. You'll learn how working with what's naturally available shapes everything a florist does — from colour and texture to stem length, structure and design.
Rather than forcing flowers into a predetermined outcome, you'll learn to work with the season and respond to what nature provides.
This practical approach is at the heart of sustainable floristry and is what makes our Flower School different.
Week One — Introduction to Floristry
We'll begin with a warm welcome, a cup of tea and a conversation with Bel about her journey into floristry — from a love of flowers to building Botaniculture into a working flower farm and thriving retail business.
You'll gain an honest insight into the realities, challenges and rewards of turning a passion for flowers into a creative career.
We'll then introduce you to the essential tools and foundations of floristry, including:
Preparing and caring for flowers
Cleaning, trimming and hydrating stems
Assessing flower quality
Understanding seasonal availability
Working with colour, texture and structure
Creating with locally grown, seasonal flowers
Your first creation
You'll create your own seasonal market bunch, working with the flowers naturally available that week.
You'll learn how to select and combine your flowers, thoughtfully build your bunch and wrap it ready to take home.
It's your first hands-on experience of our approach to floristry — from the field to the finished bunch.
