3 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests

  $130 - $135 ($135 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $130/guest for 2+ guests)

Join Lilian in the Macedon Ranges and learn how to make stunning live Kokedamas using two different methods.
In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn about the materials that are required, how to make up the potting mix and the role that the different substrates have in ensuring that your plant thrives for years to come.
Kokedama which translates from Japanese to mean "Moss Ball" was formed from the gardening styles of Bonsai and Kusamono, these have then been further developed to be wrapped in twine as a way of stabilising the plant for display and to allow the Kokedama to deal with the warmer temperatures found in our region.
Lilian specialises in creating symmetrical and neat string work and this is a focus of the class, ensuring you come away with two Kokedamas that you are proud to display in your home!

Kokedama are really beautiful and we learnt how to make a large kokedama and a small one. Lil was patient with us and explained things very clearly. The old auction House venue was great with plenty of space and a gallery and handmade gifts shop we browsed before the workshop started. So many talented artisans are showcased! I'd definitely recommend this workshop to enjoy with a friend, it's great fun and plenty of laughs.

  • 5/5 from Peg Fallon, attended Sep 2024: Attended the Kokedama workshop. Lil was a great teacher! Very clear in her instruction, attentive to each individual, extremely patient, relaxed and fun. Good choice of plants. It was harder then I thought! As the the ball became heavier, my hands become quite sore. The venue was comfortable, apart from getting a sore back on the stool but standing helped. Considering the time and effort it was probably value for money. I loved the end result and happy going home with my 2 Kokedamas! Thank you Lil.
