Mushrooms and Floral Watercolour Workshop (2 Hours and 10 Mins)

Create vibrant fungi illustrations with watercolour paint

2 hours 10 mins

Class size 1 to 7 (public classes), 5 to 6

  $65 - $75 ($75 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $70/guest for 2+ guests, $65/guest for 4+ guests)

Please note that this workshop requires at least two bookings in a session to run.
Step into the calming world of watercolour and learn how to paint delicate florals and charming forest mushrooms in this beginner-friendly workshop.
In this two-hour class, you’ll be guided through the essential foundations of watercolour painting — from understanding water control to building soft layers of colour without creating mud. Whether you’ve never picked up a brush before or want to refine your technique, this session will give you the confidence to create luminous, expressive artwork.
You’ll begin with simple warm-up exercises to explore:
  • Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques
  • Controlling pigment strength
  • Creating smooth gradients and soft blends
  • Understanding light and shadow in watercolour
Once you feel comfortable with the basics, you’ll move into guided studies of a floral form and a forest mushroom.
You’ll learn how to:
  • Paint soft, dimensional petals
  • Create natural-looking leaves with subtle tonal shifts
  • Add texture and depth to mushroom caps
  • Use negative space to keep your work light and fresh
For the two-hour class, you will learn how to paint:
  • Lavender
  • Toadstool
In the final portion of the class, you’ll combine your skills into a small finished composition—a beautiful botanical piece you can frame or gift.
Late Arrival Policy
Please arrive on time for your workshop. To ensure the session runs smoothly and out of respect for other participants, a maximum grace period of 5 minutes will be provided after the scheduled start time.
If you have not arrived within 5 minutes of the workshop commencing, your booking will be considered a no-show, your place may be offered to another participant or the workshop will continue without you, and no refund, credit, or transfer will be provided.
If you anticipate being delayed, please contact Broomstick & Brush Studio as soon as possible. While every effort will be made to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, late entry cannot be guaranteed once the workshop has begun.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

  • 5/5 from Laura Burns, attended May 2026: I am a total novice with zero artistic talent and wanted to broaden my horizons - Cristina was really patient and I actually managed to paint a mushroom worthy of fridge-space
  • 5/5 from Jen Rochford, attended Apr 2026: Lovely, low pressure workshop, perfectly presented at a very accessible level. Well organised, well paced, highly recommend. We brought a group of 8 and it was such a lovely experience.
  • 5/5 from Shelley Nicholas, attended Apr 2026: The class was much better than I anticipated. First timing at water colours. Learnt heaps of skills and information regarding products to use/purchase. Thanks so much for a great class. I would have enjoyed a smaller class plus I was disappointed in the end that I didn’t get you to review my work and ask how I could have improved it.
