Class size 1 to 3 (public classes), 3 to 6
$160 (PayPal Pay in 4 available)

The 'Making Glass Accessible' program provides weekly stained glass workshop opportunities for glass enthusiasts to explore their creativity with the transformative material of glass. Improve your mental health wellbeing, learn new skills and techniques in leadlight and copper foil, and be part of a safe, supportive, positive, and caring community with a shared interest in all things stained glass.
Learn skills including traditional leadlight window techniques or the delicate art of copper foil (also known as the Tiffany technique) and make your very own leadlight window, suncatcher, or candle holder.
This workshop program is led by community facilitator and glass artist, Fiona Caskie (AKA My Imaginary Heart), and is limited to a small group for individualised attention and focused learning. Patterns are provided, and our light-filled studio is fully equipped and comfortable.
Designed for complete beginners (advanced learners and refreshers welcome), you will learn how to:
  • Cut glass using three different tools
  • Grind and shape glass to a pattern
  • Apply copper foil to glass or build a leadlight panel
  • Construct your project using soldering tools
  • Apply finishing techniques to make your project shine
Please note:
  • Your first workshop covers how to cut glass, and you will generally need to book at least two sessions to complete your first project.
  • Glaas Inc advises that stained glass work is not recommended for those pregnant or breastfeeding, and we encourage potential students to seek further advice from their GP before participating.
What you'll get
  • Skills and techniques in the art of traditional leadlight or copper foil (Tiffany) stained glass.
  • Materials, use of equipment, and protective equipment provided.
  • A completed artwork will generally require two sessions, minimum.
