What you'll do
If you've always thought it would be nice to be able to paint some Christmas cards for your friends and family, then this is the class for you.We'll be working with watercolour to create at least 5 handmade Christmas cards. I'll guide you through the process to show you how you can create gorgeous varied textures for your painted baubles, and we'll collage them onto your cards for a 3D effect.You'll learn plenty about this medium as we test out all the different decorative effects you can create, and towards the end of the class, you can join in on painting a Christmas beetle card too if you like. (If you're not into beetles, feel free to keep working on your baubles instead!)All materials are provided, including line art and stencils for the beetle and bauble shapes. We'll be working on watercolour paper cards with professional-quality watercolour paint, and lovely deckle-edged envelopes will also be provided so you'll be all set to gift your cards this Christmas!Please note: This class is booked into the upstairs space at Hive Studios, which requires walking up two flights of stairs. If this is an issue for you, please get in touch, and we can see if the downstairs space is available instead. Thank you!

Your teacher
Based near Brisbane, Australia, Alex Louisa mainly works with oils, PanPastel and watercolour, but she also loves to experiment with new materials. Her work focuses on elements of the natural world that grab her attention. Birds have always been her favourite subject (even her first word was "bird!"), but she also enjoys creating interesting still life compositions and landscapes.Alex has exhibited through the US and Australia, and she teaches workshops to pass on her love of her favourite materials.
