Marbling on Paper Workshop

Learn the exciting technique of marbling to create one‑of‑a‑kind patterned papers

4.5 hours Class size 5 to 10 guests

$150 ($50 per class surcharge applies for private classes) (PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Paper marbling is a mesmerising heritage art that transforms colour, pattern and movement into stunning decorative papers. Traditionally used in bookbinding but endlessly adaptable, marbling has a rich global history and a wonderfully meditative - and slightly addictive - process.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the essentials of marbling so you can continue experimenting at home, while spending most of your time playing with vibrant inks that float on the marbling bath and swirl into beautiful, one‑of‑a‑kind patterns.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a gorgeous collection of A4 marbled papers (around 10) to admire, treasure or turn into something even more extraordinary.
Marbled papers are perfect for overprinting, artist books, collage, bookbinding, gift wrap, boxes, cards, ornaments, framed pieces, bookmarks, origami and so much more - your imagination will take it from here.

Now based in Brisbane, Kerrie and her family had previously done a lot or relocating so portable art materials were her ‘go-to’ – she loves coloured pencils, and watercolour, but since putting down some roots over the last few years has developed a passion for surface pattern design which includes paper marbling, paste papers, and block printing hand carved stamps.

Paper marbling has seen her connect with the QLD Bookbinders Guild, and she enjoys the contemporary binding styles she’s learning along the way (traditional styles require a little more discipline than she’s prepared to apply), but she always comes back to the papers, the mark making and the art materials.
Kerrie has been a creative her whole life and had the opportunity to do some visual arts study at while living in Darwin. This ignited her love of curating and exhibitions, and for promoting and connecting artists, but for now she’s deep diving in paper marbling and enjoying (almost) every moment of it!
