Art for Wellbeing Class

Make, mend and connect – one stitch, brushstroke, or cup of tea at a time

2 hours Location East Perth Class size 1 to 12 guests   $15

Drop into a relaxed and welcoming creative space every Saturday morning at Perth City Farm. Whether you're painting, stitching, drawing, or simply taking a mindful moment, you'll be part of a community that values expression, connection, and healing through art. Sessions are led by peer creatives trained in trauma-aware practice support and include access to materials like Sashiko thread and templates, SurfPaint paint pens and ceramic pieces to decorate, fabric for printing, acrylic and watercolour paints, charcoal, quilling paper, tools and more. You'll learn new creative skills and create beautiful pieces to take home. Come as you are – stay for the creativity, calm, and conversation.
All our sessions are hosted by Peace By Piece Art, a registered charity using creativity to support community mental health. We believe everyone deserves a welcoming space to create, connect, and belong — no pressure, no judgement, just making art side by side. Your attendance supports this mission.
Choose from the following activities (or feel free to BYO your own project):
  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Sashiko hand-stitching
  • Quilling
  • Print-making (fabric, paper and other textiles)
  • Lino-carving
  • Kintsugi*
  • Clay (polymer or airdry)*
  • Collage*
* occasionally offered as special workshops
Our Saturday self-guided sessions are designed to give you a supportive low-pressure space with all the materials you need to relax, explore and enjoy your chosen activity. Our friendly volunteers are on-hand to get you started, provide assistance when needed and top up your tea :)

FAQ

Is this for adults or children?
Our workshops are open to all ages and abilities. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a participating adult at all times.
Do I get to keep my artwork?
Absolutely! Everything you create during the session is yours to take home. We encourage you to see your piece as a reflection of your creative journey and a reminder of the time you took for yourself. Please note: If you're working with ceramics or Kintsugi, your piece may need to undergo additional finishing processes (like drying, glazing, or sealing). In these cases, your artwork will be available for collection the following week — we'll let you know as soon as it's ready.

  • 5/5 from Plinio Magno, attended Jun 2026: It was such a great experience! It's been a while since I took some time to draw anything, it used to be part of routine years ago. My wife booked me for this class as a surprise for my birthday. She chose charcoal drawing as she knows I love black and white drawings. Being that it was my very first-time experimenting charcoal drawing, I felt very comfortable to try that out though. The support from the team of tutors was incredible, I could see they really enjoy doing that. The environment, the ambient music and the people all contribute for it to be an excellent experience. Thank you very much. Regards, Plinio.
