If you’ve ever looked inside a designer wedding gown, you’ll notice
an intricate boned foundation. This corset structure is not only smooth the figure, but also
works to support the weight and shape of your body.
After a lifetime in fashion, I've decided to share my knowledge and skills with students who would like to learn the techniques I use when creating custom-made gowns.
In this course, you will learn modern corsetry techniques, bespoke couture finishing, and go hands-on with professional equipment and tools in my studio. I will guide you step by step through the creative process for the beautifully structured sheer lace corset I made especially for this course.
I will provide the corset pattern in a range of sizes, and during the first class, we will choose the closest size pattern to your measurements and adjust them to perfectly fit your individual body shape. Creating a corset is precise work, and keeping the group small gives me the time to personally guide each student through the more detailed stages of the sewing and fitting process. By the end of the course, you will create your own finished corset that can be a base for your own future wedding gown, a prom or school ball dress for yourself or your daughter, or an elegant evening gown.

  • How to complete the final fitting of your corset.
  • How to lace up your corset.

Your finished corset doesn’t have to stop there.
After you take it home, you can, for example, add a skirt that complements your corset — soft and flowing, full and dramatic, or simple and elegant — and turn it into your own beautiful evening look.

Knowledge required
Previous corset-making experience is not required—I will guide you through each stage step by step.
This course is designed for confident sewists who are comfortable using a domestic sewing machine and ready to learn advanced corsetry techniques. If you can sew accurate seams and curves, you have the skills you need to begin. Being able to sew straight, even topstitching is especially important, as this is used to create the boning channels in your corset.
What to bring
I will provide all the specialist materials needed to create your corset, including professional corset mesh, lace, boning, binding, and trims.
You can choose from white, nude, or black corset mesh, with coordinating lace included.
If you have something different in mind—perhaps a coloured corset for a school ball, a special lace for a wedding gown, or another fabric you would love to use—you are welcome to bring your own. I will be happy to guide you in choosing something suitable for the design.
You're welcome to bring your own lace, and during the first class, I will make sure it is suitable for this type of corset.
Any alternative lace or additional fabrics do not change the course fee. The lace included with your course materials is still yours to keep.

FAQ

Can I book for a bigger group of people?
Not at this time. Small Group, Personal Guidance. With a maximum of just four students, I will be able to work closely with each of you throughout the fitting and construction process. Corsetry is precise work, and keeping the group small gives me the time to personally guide each student through the more detailed stages of making and fitting the corset.

Hi, I’m Tatiana — a designer, textile artist, nature lover and teacher, and I’ve spent most of my life creating beautiful things with my hands.
Fashion has always been one of the most important parts of my life. Over the years, I worked with Australian designers, developing patterns and samples for their collections as well as creating bespoke wedding gowns and custom-designed couture pieces for private clients.
These days, I also really enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others. My classes bring together two very different sides of my creative world — couture sewing and corsetry, with all its beautiful precision and detail, and eco-printing, where nature takes over a little and surprises us every time.
My studio is located in the heart of Subiaco. It’s a cosy, welcoming creative space, filled with professional equipment and tools I use in my own work. I want everyone who walks through the door to feel comfortable, inspired and very much at home.
For me, teaching corset making or eco-printing is about more than simply showing you how to make something. I love sharing my knowledge, techniques and experience, and it’s always a pleasure to meet new creative souls and help them develop their own skills and confidence. I want my classes to feel warm and social — a place where like-minded people can meet, exchange ideas, share their own experiences and simply enjoy spending time together. One of the greatest joys for me is seeing my students leave the studio with happy smiles, new skills and something beautiful they have created with their own hands. My heart truly sings when I see that happiness and pride in their eyes.
