Looking for unique things to do in Melbourne this weekend? Join Kaya Jewers for a beginner-friendly drypoint workshop and learn the skills to make unique pieces of art from scratch!
In this class, you will learn how to make and print an acetate drypoint. You'll learn about the process, inking, paper choice, and different ways to add colour. The great thing about drypoint is the detail you can achieve just by making more or fewer marks! It allows you to do nice reproductions of photographs and keep the integrity of sketches too. Small classes with a maximum of 4 people means individualised attention.
A friendly expert will run you through some quick examples and some different ways to print at home without a press. You'll also discover ways you can recycle materials you may have around the house!
You'll learn how to make your plate with your own design or photograph. Once your plate is made and printing nicely, you'll learn about a few ways to add colour to your print. Once you've completed these few steps you'll then get to print your funky coloured drypoint onto paper!
At the end of the class, you will have a small edition of unique and colourful printsa to take home or gift to a loved one!

I am a printmaker based in Melbournes East. I've been passionate about printmaking since I first studied it in 2002. My studio, Hazy Bubble Studio, is located in Kew East.
I've produced prints in just about every form of printmaking from lithography to aquatint, to monoprint, and all things in between.
I currently have a small press and my studio is spacious enough to host small, focused groups.
