How can we help?
Q: How much does pottery painting cost At Happy Hub Collective in Perth?
Pottery painting at Happy Hub Collective starts from $98 per person. The session runs for 1 hour 15 minutes at our Fremantle studio, and the ticket covers your ceramic piece, all premium, artist grade underglazes and brushes, guidance from an expert facilitator, and the glazing and kiln firing afterwards. There's nothing else to pay on the day, unless you decide to upgrade to additional or larger items.
Q: How long does a pottery painting workshop take?
A pottery painting workshop at Happy Hub Collective runs for 1 hour 15 minutes at our Fremantle studio. That's enough time to be shown the underglaze techniques and finish your piece in the one sitting — there's no second visit to complete the painting. Our handbuilding workshops run longer, because you shape the piece before decorating it.
Q: When do I get my pottery back after painting it?
Your piece is glazed and kiln-fired after the workshop, so it's ready to collect from our Fremantle studio in about 4 weeks — 5 at the outside. We'll let you know when it's out of the kiln. Pieces need to be picked up within 12 weeks of your workshop date. If you're painting a gift, plan around that four weeks.
Q: Do I need any experience to paint pottery?
No experience is needed — Happy Hub Collective's pottery painting workshops are designed for complete beginners. A facilitator walks you through the underglaze techniques, colour mixing and brushwork at the start of the session and stays with you throughout. Most people who come to our Fremantle studio have never painted ceramics before!
Q: Can kids do pottery painting, and what age is it suitable for?
Yes — Happy Hub Collective runs pottery painting for children in Fremantle, painting a ready-made ceramic piece with underglazes rather than building from clay. Kids' sessions start from $69 per child and suit ages 4 and up. Adults are welcome to paint alongside their child, and we run these regularly during Perth school holidays.
Q: Is the pottery food safe once it's fired, and can I put it in the dishwasher?
Yes — everything painted at Happy Hub Collective is food and beverage safe once it has been glazed and kiln-fired, so your mug, bowl or plate is made to be used rather than displayed. We do recommend handwashing rather than the dishwasher: it keeps the underglaze colours bright and the piece looking its best for years.
Q: What's the difference between pottery painting and a pottery class?
Pottery painting means decorating a ready-made ceramic piece with underglazes — the shaping is already done, so the whole 1 hour 15 minute session is colour and design. A pottery class means making the form yourself. Happy Hub Collective teaches handbuilding (pinch, coil and slab) and our Paint & Make workshops combine both: you build a tumbler or dip bowl, then paint it.
Q: Can I book a pottery painting workshop for a hens party or birthday?
Yes — Happy Hub Collective runs private pottery painting workshops in Fremantle for hens parties, birthdays, baby showers and team days. Private groups start from 10 people and can be booked at our Stack Street studio or brought to your venue anywhere in Perth. Private bookings can be rescheduled with 14 days' notice.
Q: Do you run pottery painting at our venue?
Yes — Happy Hub Collective runs mobile pottery painting workshops across Perth, bringing the ceramics, underglazes, tools and a facilitator to your office, venue or home. We take the finished pieces back to our Fremantle studio for glazing and firing, then you collect them or arrange delivery. Mobile workshops suit corporate team building, celebrations and community events.
Q: What should I wear and do I need to bring anything?
Wear something you don't mind getting underglaze on — aprons are provided at our Fremantle studio, but paint can still find you. Bring nothing else; your ceramic piece, all brushes and underglazes, and the glazing and firing are included in your $98 ticket. We also invite you to BYO sips and snacks should you wish!
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: No cancellations, but free to reschedule up until 7 days before the class
Q: How long does the class run for, and what's the price?
A: 1 hour, $98 per guest ($95 per class surcharge applies for private classes)
