In this beginner-friendly class in Collingwood, you’ll gain the essential skills to start sewing with confidence, whether you’ve never touched a machine before or just need a refresher.
Never tried sewing before but always wondered how to? This session is perfect for you -- you'll receive expert guidance every step of the way in a relaxed, supportive environment.Â
What to expect:
- Over three hours, we’ll cover the foundations of machine sewing step by step.
- How to thread your machine, fill bobbins, adjust settings, and switch between presser feet.
- You’ll also learn fabric and needle basics, how to backstitch and manage tension, seam allowances, finishing edges, and even buttonholes and zippers.
- To put it all into practice, you’ll sew your own zippered pouch with a pocket and clean, finished edges; a perfect project for storing writing tools, makeup, crochet hooks, or paintbrushes.
- The options are endless, really – who doesn’t love a wee pouch?
This workshop is all about practical skills in a relaxed, supportive space, with plenty of time to ask questions and build confidence.

We also provide a creative environment for emerging artists to produce and sell work, and meet like minded individuals. Work-Shop will be a space for everyone, with a rotating schedule of art shows, information nights on local issues and a whole range of events and community initiatives.
