Work-Shop is a creative concept that will broaden your horizons and help you unleash your inner awesome. We provide affordable short courses in life skills and alternative art. We’ve teamed up with Australia’s brightest creative minds to share their knowledge and help teach you a new skill. From 3D printing and stencil art through to music and gardening – life skills and personal development through to cooking doughnuts and mushroom foraging, we offer a broad range of fun and creative short courses to suit our time poor lives. We will inspire you to pick up that pen, paintbrush, hammer or sewing machine and flick the switch that will kickstart a whole new way of life.
Community values lie at the heart of our project. We collaborate with local artists and industry experts to teach classes and utilise local suppliers for any materials needed. I thoroughly enjoyed the Sketch Journaling Workshop with Claire Ritchie. Claire was a wonderful facilitator and the workshop was well planned. It didn't feel rushed and we covered all activities. The exercises I learnt from the workshop will help me start my own daily practice.

Loved the class on every level Jude and Richard had put in an enormous of preparation to make the class flow with ease. Their knowledge was extensive. The Garden of Joy was just that, it was the perfect setting for a wild basket class. I’d totally recommend this class to anyone who loves baskets.

Terrarium Workshop for Beginners
Our instructor was a super hilarious guy who has an eye for ~terrarium aesthetic~. Covered enough theory to understand why you're adding all the layers and how to keep your plant babies alive but we were able to get our hands dirty soon enough. Everyone got a good range of plants (spikey, not spikey), rocks, decorations. Would definitely recommend.

The terrarium class was fun and easy! Chet was great at explaining all the layers and gave some insight into the history of terrariums. He offered heaps of colours and decorations to personalise our terrariums so it was fun to play around and experiment with lots of different looks.

Such a fun class! Chet taught us how to design and landscape our terrariums, as well as how to take care of them afterwards. Lots of different plants, rocks and figurines to use and make a totally unique little terrarium. Great vibe - loved it - thanks Chet!

Embroidery Class: Stitch and Bitch
The venue was so funky and the teacher was lovely. I’d never stitched before, and she taught me everything I needed to know! Highly recommend!

What was the teacher like? Sally is so lovely, she explained and demonstrated the techniques so well and loved how she explained the therapeutic benefits of painting and how it affects the different parts of the brain
How was the venue? So easy to get to, a short walk from redfern station. Nice venue, a bit chilly in winter so bring something warm to wear. There was also a tea and coffee station but there wasn't any milk so I had a herbal tea instead. Should have grabbed a coffee from the cafe near the station on my way in!
If materials were provided, did you like them? The quality of the materials provided were amazing.
Was the class good value for money? Yes, absolutely
What did you do / learn? We learnt how to sketch a still life object, then how to turn the sketch into a template you can paint over with watercolour, lots of different water colour techniques and got to paint some scenes. Loved that we didn't have to stop at 1pm on the dot and could stay and carry on painting.

It was a fun little class where we made four take home items, which I think is exceptional value. It was disappointing we couldn't make the salve however Megan went above and beyond to accommodate us by allowing us a fourth take home item and also making us personally our salves for postage or collection.

Great value for money. Sheri went into a lot of detail about materials and dos and don'ts, and and made herself very approachable. To end up with something we can even hang in out living room was pretty cool as well! Have recommended it to a few friends already but would definitely go back again!

Sheri is a great teacher and the workshop provides a comprehensive foundation of using resin (what to do and what not to do!). We got to make a cheese board and 4 coasters which is plenty to do in the workshop. Everything is provided and there are so many colours to choose from! I enjoyed it and highly recommend the workshop!

The workshop was absolutely fabulous Very interesting and informative. The teacher Ian was a real character, very down to earth and no bull. They gave us a lot of free stuff and we got to taste the honey which really was divine. I would recommend it to everyone. Everybody should buy some native bees to pollinate all our flowers and veggies.

Wow, just wow! This was a fabulous class, and I learnt so much about my own anatomy I never knew before. Elisa is a really great teacher! Just wished I lived in Melbourne as once lockdowns are eventually a thing of the past, won't be able to go to in-person workshops (though might have to plan a trip just for this!)

Wonderful workshop making fantastic earrings out of laser cut acrylic pieces. The acrylic pieces are lovely and plenty to choose from. Everything is provided for and we got to make 4 sets of earrings. We also got glue and an earring stand to take home. Three hours turn out not to be enough as I felt like I could do this all day! The workshop is beginner friendly but would suit anyone crafty. Thanks for the awesome morning!

She have provided important informations about how the terrarium works and what doesn't work well, and she is more than happy to answers if you have any questions. I look forward to purchasing more herbs to create few terrariums. Thanks Helena for running an amazing Zoom class! Enjoyed the lesson.

Three hours went by too quickly. I had lots of fun. Tamina knows her stuff and is a great teacher. Didn't have enough time to do my own little embroidery but got to take home stuff so I can do it at home. Highly recommended.
