Sign Painting Workshop

How to make hand painted signs

7 hours Location Collingwood Class size 12 to 40 guests   $195

Get a rush with the brush! In this full-day Sign-painting workshop you’ll experience an action-packed day with one of the most interesting artists on the scene, Gaston The Painter. Gain a comprehensive insight into the craft, learning the knowledge and skills essential to the art form. Not to mention a bunch of design and lettering tips along the way.

After a quick introduction covering the aims and challenges of sign-painting, Gaston will get straight into the nitty-gritty. Covering transfer techniques, paint mixing and colour palette, brush care, manipulation and strokes, as well as an introduction to casual, block, and script styles you’ll have all the essentials down pat. You’ll then move on to creating your own custom design, planning the layout, sketching, and transferring, before putting all the skills you’ve learned into action, painting your one-of-a-kind creation.

Perfect for beginners or those wanting to brush up (pun intended) on their skills, you’ll leave this workshop with the confidence and know-how to continue practicing at home or at work. All materials are provided and we’ll top off the day with a couple of beers while we debrief!

I love going to any and all classes and work-shop in Collingwood, everyone who works there is always so welcoming and I’ve met some lovely people with the same creative interests. Looking forward to more classes at work-shop!

He catered the class to each one us giving us feedback and tasks according to the amount of experience we had. Even knowing the basics of sign writting I learnt little tips and tricks that will come in handy in the future. I would recomend this class for anyone with and interest in the subject and also anyone who has a little experience and is looking to jump back in.

However Gaston modifies the class to suit the needs of the group - so if there’s anything you are wanting to learn be sure to tell him. The class is focused on giving you the knowledge to go home and continue with your practice. Materials were provided and the space was beautiful. Thanks so much! Would be interested in further workshops!
