In this Bag Charm Workshop, you’ll design and handcraft your own one-of-a-kind charm, choosing from three unique styles inspired by both traditional and modern techniques. Just in time to make some for holiday gifts too!
Taught by Melbourne-based illustrator and designer Sam Kenneally, this workshop draws inspiration from traditional Chinese knot tying, a practice rich with symbolism and history, while also exploring playful, contemporary approaches to craft. You’ll have the option to create:
- A knotted charm, exploring the beauty and meaning of traditional decorative knots - A beaded charm, designed around colour, texture, and balance - A hand-sewn, stuffed creature charm, a soft, whimsical character full of personality
Each student will choose one project to focus on and complete during the session, with all materials, tools, and step-by-step guidance provided. You’ll leave with a finished piece (or two) that’s as individual as you are and the skills to keep making more at home.
Please note: This class requires at least 5 students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.
