Soft Sculptures: Intro to Needle Felting

3 hours Location Collingwood Class size 12 to 40 guests   $75

Welcome to the wonderful world of felting & fibre sculpture. This traditional technique has been used for centuries and can be applied to a wide range of products, such as clothing, accessories, home decor, and sculpture.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll immerse yourself in a fun and interactive way to learn the basics of needle felting to create your own unique mini sculpture. Felting is a process of matting, condensing, and pressing fibres together, to create a dense and durable material. It's also extremely meditative and a satisfyingly stabby process.

We'll start with an introduction to the materials and techniques used in needle felting, including the types of wool and tools needed. We'll then jump straight into stabbing & crafting our pieces, learning how to shape and mold the wool fibres into soft mini sculptures.

Next, we'll cover different techniques for adding details and texture to your pieces. We'll also cover the use of other materials to add more dimension & shape.

Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from our wonderful facilitator Lianna with plenty of time to work on your creations and share ideas with classmates.

At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your completed mini soft sculpture to take home and proudly display. This workshop would be a great way for participants to learn a new skill while also creating a fun and unique craft project.

Please note: This class requires at least 5 students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.

  • 5/5 from Brad, attended Jun 2026: This was a fun and simple beginners crash course in needle felting. I teamed up with my 9yo son on a project for the class and he stayed engaged (with a few breaks) for the whole class and we ended up with a finished result he really loved. Liana was a knowlegeble, helpful and easy to talk to. We had a great time, thank you!
  • 4/5 from Angela Devine, attended Jun 2026: Great introduction to the art of felting--learned a lot!
  • 5/5 from Irem Durdag, attended Jan 2026: Liana was wonderful- knowledgeable, accomodating and attentive. My 9YO and I had the best time getting the basics right and then working on our individual projects with Liana’s help. We walked away immensely happy with our felt sculptures and now permanently displayed in our home. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 from Daphne Roberts, attended Aug 2025: I learn the craft of needle felting and I am hooked! Excellent class, fantastic instructor and fun class of students that were all friendly. We all admired each others work. I woukd HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone as you come out with a cute project.
  • 4/5 from Alexandra Gianakis, attended Aug 2025: The three of us enjoyed the class and the fun environment to create. The space was great except it was very cold in there.
  • 4/5 from Sherman Ting, attended Aug 2025: Great intro into the world of Needle Felting. Liana was great getting us started on the tools and process of felting, sharing some of her experiences and works. For most of the time, it's simply hands on creating your own scultures and asking her for help when you need - time flies quickly and I didn't mange to finish my sculture within the time, so it's best to come prepared with a simple small design in mind (from online search).
