Cut and Paste Collage Workshop

Explore, learn and enjoy the wonderful world of collage

3 hours Location Brunswick Class size 1 to 9 (public classes), 8 to 15   $100 - $110 ($100 for Child; $105 for Concession/Student; $110 for General)

Welcome to our colourful & cosy Brunswick studio, where Max and Zoe guide you through a thoughtfully designed collage workshop focused on creativity, experimentation, and self-expression. Over the past five years, we’ve carefully refined this experience to welcome all creative backgrounds, abilities, and levels of confidence.
Rather than working from a set example, we introduce you to the mindset, techniques, and creative approaches used to develop original collage pieces using our extensive collection of second-hand, recycled, and donated materials. Along the way, you’ll also explore our unique glue-free collage process, allowing you to freely remix, rearrange, and document multiple evolving artworks throughout the session.
As an independent artist-run studio, That Paper Joint exists somewhere between a working collage studio, creative workshop, and curated retail space, united by a shared love of paper, image-making, and creative community.
At That Paper Joint, we believe creativity flourishes when people feel supported, relaxed, and free to experiment without pressure or perfectionism. Whether you’re a practising artist or reconnecting with creativity for the first time in years, this workshop is designed to help you feel comfortable, inspired, and surprised by what you can make.

I enjoyed the balance between guiding session/giving instructions and letting people explore and go at their own pace. I enjoyed how everyone’s work was shared by the end and the fact that you get your collages digitalized with high resolution afterwards. Top experience! Would do it again if I could fit it in my schedule.

  • 5/5 from James Pearce, attended Sep 2026: Amazing - 6 stars!! :) Had the best time on Friday evening. It was a full class (10?) that shared a great time with collaging by Max. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun. No occasion, just went to That Paper Joint the weekend prior and decided to give it a go after seeing another class having the best time! We learnt some great collaging techniques and the 5 step process to making creative and above all fun pieces. Max is a great guide throughout the entire collaging process – special shoutout to his love of 90s and 00s hip hop that was playing throughout (we need more ATLiens playing in everyday life). Ended up making a couple of pieces (you'll probably have time for one great piece, I rushed a second because it was fun) that were then presented together (after scanning) in a group slideshow to each other! Awesome fun, will be back!

We also picked up some great tips from Max, our teacher. I loved the technique of making an incision with a hobby knife to insert items into to make them look like they are in something (E.g. a bowl) or coming out of something. Loved how the workshop was laid back but still had some structure. It was well organised and loved the slide show of our scanned artworks at the end.
