What you'll do
Let nature be your muse in this calming, creative workshop devoted to the timeless art of botanical watercolour. Over 3 gentle hours, you’ll be guided through foundational watercolour and drawing techniques and learn to paint seasonal blooms with grace and confidence — no experience necessary.Held in our studio on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, this class is led by an experienced watercolour artist who delights in making the medium approachable, joyful, and deeply satisfying.Each session begins with a moment of quiet awe: a fresh bouquet of in-season flowers, handpicked especially for the day’s class. From delicate daisies to blossoming waratahs, you’ll choose your favourite floral subject and learn how to translate its form, colour, and character onto paper.Throughout the class, you’ll be gently introduced to:
- The basics of watercolour: brush techniques, layering, wet-on-wet and dry brush styles
- Mixing your palette and understanding colour relationships in nature
- Observational drawing techniques to capture botanical forms
- Building up a composition that blooms across your page
