Alana Rain Art & Therapy

I am Alana (she/her), a visual artist, jewelry-maker, and art therapist based in Gimuy/Cairns. I began my career in Fine Arts. After graduating with a BFA, I slowly built a contemporary art practice making ephemeral art installations and fine detailed drawings. Later I spent a year living in Oaxaca, Mexico where I learnt a tonne of new cratfs; this also spurred a deep passion for traditional arts and crafts as well as an inquiry into the benefits and importance of making things by hand. Later I completed a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice and have since been combining all of my interests and skills into unique workshop offerings!The world needs more creativity and play – this is at the heart of joy, innovation, beauty, and healing! I have taught in Festival settings, women's retreats and schools. Seeing the incredibly diverse and unique ways people express themselves creatively is my favourite part of teaching and is truly inspirational (despite what you may think about the "quality" of your work!).
