Hi, I’m Amanda O’Bryan, and I’ve been passionate about creativity for as long as I can remember. My journey began with a love for art and design, which led to a 25-year career in the Creative Industries as an artist, designer, and illustrator. From murals and hand-painting children’s furniture to designing homewares and running an award-winning graphic and web studio, I’ve explored creativity with curiosity.
It wasn’t until I faced burnout and overcame ovarian cancer that I truly reconnected with my creativity in a more meaningful, healing way. That experience inspired me to make it my mission to help others unlock their own creative potential through art and workshops.
My love for flowers and botanical-style watercolour painting stems from a deep connection with nature, and being the mother of a young florist only strengthens that bond. There’s something truly special about painting flowers from life—it’s like having a conversation with the blooms, capturing their essence in each moment.
I regularly exhibit my work, take private commissions, and am currently studying Psychology to bring creativity and art into clinical practice.
Teaching has become one of my greatest passions, especially after witnessing firsthand how creativity supported my recovery from cancer. It’s why I wrote my book, Daily Acts of Creativity. In my workshops, I see how the act of creating can bring a sense of peace and purpose. There’s something magical about guiding someone through a watercolour workshop and watching them immerse into a mindful flow while creating something beautiful. It’s more than just painting, it’s about reconnecting with yourself in a meaningful, joyful way. That’s why I focus on botanical painting; it connects us to nature and has a hidden language of meaning that helps us feel grounded and purposeful.
I hope to see you at a workshop soon.
Amanda
