Basket Weaving Workshop

Weave your own basket among the trees

2 hours Location Draper Class size 1 to 12 (public classes), 4 to 15   $60 (Afterpay available)

Learn to create a basket from cat's claw vine, a 'weedy' species that grows along the East Coast, particularly along waterways. Learn how to prepare and harvest the vine, including a brief on how to manage it in ecological spaces.
The basket will be unique to you, depending on the form and function you would like it to take!
As much as it's about creating a basket, it's also about connecting with nature and with the people around you. It will be a lovely, laid-back vibe, with tea, snacks, and wonderful company, sitting outside by the creek and among the trees (weather pending, otherwise there is an inside option).

Hi I'm Lindsey! I spend most of my time outside among nature as a bush regenerator and farmer, dedicating my time to regenerating the land I'm part of.
Many of the 'weeds' around us, are amazing fibres to turn into beautiful baskets and forms that can be functional as well.
I'm passionate about creating an opportunity to educate and inspire people to learn about the natural world, connect with the earth, each other and ancestral practices through the art of weaving. And not only come home with a beautiful little creation but with the knowledge and skills to fuel your curiosity and creativity!
