Beginner Pottery Workshop: Clayground Sessions

Us too!So we're going back to school!Forget homework, uniforms and being told to stop talking at the back of the classroom. We're getting together on Sunday mornings to learn the basics of pottery, plug a few gaps in our knowledge and have a laugh along the way.Think *The Breakfast Club*, but with clay instead of detention!At The Clayground, we're big believers that learning doesn't stop when you grow up. There's always something new to discover, a technique to try or a question someone else was probably too embarrassed to ask.We're not pretending to know everything. We're sharing what we know, learning what we don't and figuring things out together. Because sometimes the best way to learn is to simply have a go!Choose your own adventure!Each Sunday morning, you'll choose one of four beginner-friendly pottery projects:

• Mug Shots: Learn to build your own mug, attach a handle and discover the art of joining clay.
• Bowled Over: Explore pinching, coiling and shaping to create a bowl with personality.
• Plate Expectations: Learn slab-building techniques to create your own handmade plate.
• Platter Matters: Roll, texture and shape a slab-built platter (maximum 12 × 12 inches).

Choose whichever project takes your fancy on the day!Come once, try all four or keep coming back to practise your new skills. There's no compulsory order, no catching up and definitely no homework.Make it. Colour it. Love it!Once you've created your masterpiece (wonky bits and all!), you'll have the opportunity to experiment with coloured clay slips to add your own personality.A little bit Breakfast Club. A whole lot Clayground.Our Sunday Sessions are about getting together around the table, sharing ideas, learning from each other and discovering what happens when curious grown-ups get their hands into clay. Come with a friend, bring your partner or rock up solo. We'll have a spot at the table for you.Never touched clay before? Brilliant!Know a little but want to build your confidence? Even better!We're all here to learn something, and there's absolutely no expectation of perfection.The important bitsWhen: Sunday mornings, 1030am–1230pm (ish)Where: Colour My Pot, ClevelandPrice: $55 per person, including standard firing and clear glazingGroup size: Maximum six adultsExperience needed: Absolutely none!Your handmade pottery will need time to dry and travel through the kiln before it's ready for collection. We'll let you know when your creation is finished.No grades. No pressure.
