She is so encouraging and has an eye for colour and detail. As our morning came to a close I especailly enjoyed how she read to us about the origins of Boro and Sashiko as we were completing our last minutes of stitching. The class totally exceeded my expectations.

She also put on a lovely morning tea, which was a nice touch. It was an intimate class of just four, which made for a relaxed, personal experience. My sides are finished and ready to be constructed into a stand-up pencil case — I'll upload a photo of the finished piece once it's done!

I do feel as if some aspects could somehow be rearranged to maximise time doing actual sashiko stitching, but we still had the confidence to take the project home and continue our newly aqcuired sashiko skills.

The sewing packs were well organised ready to get started, with full instructions to take home. The concept is not hard to grasp but practice will yield beautiful results relative quickly I believe. I was a little slow to get started but felt no judgement or irritation by Nicole, only encouragement and flexibility. The ethos of wabi-sabi (imperfection) made my first venture into something new non-stressful. I look forward to finishing my project at home and would certainly plan to have another class with Nicole again next year.

Her studio was light and comfortable and filled with beautiful items on display. The kit was very well packaged, she provided a wide range of fabrics to suit all tastes, and the written instructions for finishing off the bag were clear. I would definitely recommend the class with Nicole - and her lovely afternoon tea!

Plus a very yummy cake. I would happily recommend this workshop for anyone interested in mindful stitchcraft.

Nicole’s work, that you can see featured around is top quality. I did find the activity difficult, but I also have zero knowledge of sewing etc and realised it probably isn’t for me. Nicole did try very hard to guide and was so patient.

It is hard to watch the interpreter while sewing as very changelling for Nicole to work with a Deaf person. The class are lovely people.

Wish we could keep going back for top up sessions!
