What you'll do
Nothing is more beautiful than butterflies and flowers; it's hard to go wrong with that combination, isn't it? Butterflies are beautiful, colourful and delicateAt first, using high-quality Winsor & Newton professional watercolour paints, we will paint a pale background wash. We do this by combining different colours and using wet-on-wet technique. Then we will work on the beautiful Tiger Swallowtail butterfly using wet-on-dry technique. We will use Permanent Rose colour to paint the Echinacea bright pink petals, and by adding yellow we will shape the disc florets. We mix the blue and yellow to make green colour for the leaves and stems. Because the butterfly and the larger flower are the focal point, we paint them very precisely. The other two flowers are out of focus so we paint them in less detail.Artistic Facilitator: Ferie SadeghiFerie started her career as an interior architect and later as a graphic designer. Her background as a designer has given her strength in drawing, composition, perspective, and colour coordination. She loves the softness and the moodiness of watercolour; lately, she is also exploring other mediums like acrylic paint and alcohol inks.She exhibits her artworks regularly throughout the year. Recent awards are:
- a Highly Commended in the 2022 WSQ Annual Exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2020 The Australian Watercolour Muster
- a Third Prize in the 2019 EKKA exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2024 Brookfield Art Show
