Cabochon Setting and Embossing Course

Discover the art of cabochon setting and embossing in Gympie!

2 x 2.5 hours Class size 1 to 8

label $240 (Afterpay available)

This is a follow-on from the Introduction to Silversmithing class and it is recommended that you have previous soldering experience for this workshop.
During this two week course, you will learn how to set a cabochon stone and your friendly teacher will take you into more texturing techniques with rolled metal embossing so that you can create your own hand-embossed design on the backside of your cabochon setting.
You might like to attach your cabochon setting to a ring or you could attach a bail to wear your cabochon as a pendant. You will certainly put your soldering skills to practice in this class.
You will learn:
  • What is a cabochon?
  • Alternative items that can be set
  • Construction of a simple bezel setting
  • All about the rolling mill
  • How to use templates and make them yourself
  • How to emboss metals
  • Types of found objects that can be used for embossing
By the end of the course, you can take home newfound skills, as well as some jewellery to cherish forever.
