Master French baking and learn to make patisserie-quality sweet French tarts



3 hours Class size 1 to 6 (public classes), 4 to 10

In this hands-on baking class in Newcastle, you will learn a few classic French techniques that will enable you to create beautiful tarts that your friends will think you purchased from a Patisserie!

You will learn to make sweet shortcrust pastry and 3 different flavoured tarts.

At the end of the class, you will get to sample the tarts with a glass of bubbles and take some home to share with family and friends.

Owner and Pastry Chef - Janet Newton
The passion for baking and cooking started in childhood for Janet Newton. The long Christmas holidays she spent baking with Czechoslovakian family friend, Irene. During this time the family was provided with an endless supply of traditional tarts, slices, biscuits and cakes.

The wonderful love of sharing food with family and friends was born out of these one on one cooking lessons and is the inspiration behind the opening of The Yellow Door Kitchen.

Janet trained as Pastry Chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school and has many years’ experience working in restaurants and patisseries. Her ability to combine flavours and her passion for baking is infectious and will ensure students are transported into a wonderful, creative world of cooking during her classes.
