Clay and Sip Class: Air-dry Mushrooms

Play with clay to create three hand-built mushrooms using air dried clay

3 hours Class size 1 to 4

label $60 (or 4 payments of $15 Afterpay)

If you're looking for some fun with your friends while sipping away with BYO drinks and nibbles, then why not organise a night playing with clay with Di Stirling?

You don't have to have any experience or knowledge of working with clay to join this class. You will learn how to prepare and mould your own mushrooms using plaster moulds.

By the time the class is finished, you should have managed to make at least two mushrooms but maybe even three small pieces using air-dried clay (depending on how many sips you have!)

Your experienced teacher Di will be there all along the way to guide you through the process. As we will be using air-dried clay, there is no need to have them fired so your pieces can be taken home with you.

You bring the drinks and nibbles, we'll supply the glasses and plates along with all the clay, tools and ambience for the night!

Please note: Your pieces will need to dry for between 24 to 48 hours. After this, you can paint them with acrylic or poster paint. You can also use a sealer if you want to.

My name is Diane Stirling (Di) and I work under the name of Di Stirling Pottery. I was first introduced to working with clay when my children were 8 months and 2.5 years old in the early 80s. It has been my love and passion since then.

I completed a three-year Associate Diploma in Ceramics with a fine art component in 1986 and went on to do a one-year residency at the NT Crafts Council followed by having a piece acquired in the Northern Territory Museum of Arts and Sciences permanent collection.

I have since completed a degree in Business Management with an Assessment and Workplace Training module and conducted many pottery classes for children and adults. I just love working with clay and love to share the experience, knowledge, joy and satisfaction that comes with playing with clay.
