Repoussé copper is a traditional metalworking technique where a flat sheet of copper is hand-hammered or punched from the reverse side to create a three-dimensional design. Because copper is highly malleable, it is one of the most popular and historically favoured materials for this beautiful craft.
In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to transform a flat sheet of copper into a beautiful trinket bowl, leaf, or floral-inspired design. Copper is soft, forgiving, and wonderfully satisfying to work with, making this class perfect for anyone wanting to try metalwork in a creative, approachable way.
Guided by Samantha in the blacksmith workshop, you’ll explore the beautiful space between jewellery making and blacksmithing while learning real metalworking foundations in a relaxed, supportive environment. You’ll be shown how to mark out your design, shape your copper, add texture, anneal, file, and buff to bring your piece to life by hand.
This small-group workshop is capped at four people, giving you plenty of guidance and time to create something truly personal.
