Workshop: “Treasure Keepers” – Create Your Own Lidded Porcelain Box
with Sandra Noa
Sat 16th Aug 1-3pm
Join ceramic artist Sandra Noa for a calming and creative workshop where you’ll hand build a single, one-of-a-kind porcelain lidded box—a small vessel to hold your treasures, intentions, or quiet secrets.
In this session, you’ll be introduced to the beauty and delicacy of working with porcelain clay. Sandra will guide you through building a rounded container with a fitted lid and sculpting a unique finial for the top—this could be a mushroom, a tree, a tiny symbol, or something drawn from your own imagination. You’ll also explore surface textures to personalise your piece.
You will:
– Create one lidded box from porcelain
– Learn how to build and fit a lid
– Sculpt a finial or handle that reflects your style or story
– Explore surface texture and mark-making
– Work unglazed to let the natural beauty of porcelain shine
This workshop is suitable for all levels, including beginners. All materials and kiln firing are included.
Create one small box—made with care, filled with meaning.

Hi, I’m Carys Martin, and I’ve been living and breathing art for as long as I can remember.
I taught my very first workshop at just 15 years old, and that early experience lit a spark that’s never gone out. After earning my degree in Art in 1997 and a PGCE in 1998, I’ve spent the years creating, exhibiting, and sharing my love for art through teaching.
With over 35 years of teaching experience across the UK, US, and Australia, I’ve helped thousands of people tap into their creativity. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned maker, I aim to create a warm, welcoming space where you can explore, experiment, and grow.
Ceramics is my passion—there’s something magical about transforming clay into something both beautiful and functional. I exhibit and sell my own ceramic art and run all my workshops from my own studio—a vibrant, inspiring space where creativity flows freely. It’s not just my teaching home; it’s also a shared creative hub where other talented artists run their own workshops, making it a rich and ever-evolving space for learning and connection.
Teaching, for me, is about more than passing on skills—it’s about igniting confidence, joy, and self-expression. Creativity feeds the soul, and I truly believe everyone has the ability to make something meaningful.
If you're ready to try something new, get your hands dirty, and create something uniquely yours, I’d love to welcome you into the studio. Come join us—and let’s make something beautiful together.
