$95 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Join Melissa for a relaxed 2.5-hour hand-building workshop where you’ll create your own reusable ceramic travel mug (keep cup). This beginner-friendly pottery class is perfect for anyone who loves handmade ceramics, tea/coffee, and creativity. Melissa will guide you step-by-step in a welcoming workshop with small class sizes.
This is a hands-on pottery workshop. You’ll learn simple slab-building techniques to create a beautiful and functional ceramic travel mug before hand-painting it in colourful pottery paints. Your travel mug will be glazed with a clear coat after class.
What to expect:
  • Design and hand-build your own reusable ceramic travel mug.
  • Decorate your mug using colourful pottery paints to create your own unique design.
  • Suitable for ages 12+ (children must attend with a participating adult).
After the class, Melissa will carefully dry, fire, and clear glaze your ceramic travel mug, ready for collection in approximately 5-6 weeks. This is due to the drying, glazing, and firing process taking some time.
Refreshments are not included or available at the venue; however, you’re welcome to bring your own.
What you'll get
You'll get your own reusable ceramic travel mug (Keep Cup), with all clay, tools, underglazes, and glazes supplied. Your finished piece will be professionally fired and glazed, ready to enjoy with your favourite coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

I’m Melissa, a potter and English teacher based in Brighton on the northern bayside of Brisbane. I've been more seriously doing pottery for about six years after taking a class in wheel throwing. Working with clay is addictive, good for personal well-being, and achievable — and that’s why I keep coming back to it.
I now work from my home studio, where I enjoy both hand-building and wheel throwing objects that I mostly gift to family and friends. I'm a member of my local community studio, which allows me to learn from other potters. I now fire at home with my own kiln and mix many of my own glazes.
Alongside making, I've taught high school English and Arts for about ten years. My workshops are calm, encouraging, and thoughtfully structured — and I cater mostly for beginners.
I'm fairly confident that after a class or two, you may catch the very contagious pottery bug, and I hope you do.
