What you'll do
Roll Out the Clay
Everyone takes turns rolling out their clay
Shape in Into a Large Round Base
and cut into 5 pieces (form in into a triangle)
Build Up the Edges
Add coils of clay around the edges to create the raised rim individually.
Paint
Paint with black / red underglaze. The teacher will take good care of them and do bisque(1st firing) and glaze firing (2nd firing). Will be ready in about 6 weeks.
It will be a functional ware.
- Hand-build your plate from clay
- Learn simple shaping and coil techniques
- Decorate with a minimal black design
- Experience how individual pieces connect into one shared artwork
- Clay is a fickle medium, and the nature of pottery is that it can break for uncertain reasons. No refunds are provided in the unfortunate event that your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln.
- It will take about six weeks to fire and glaze your work. You’ll get a message from your teacher as soon as your pieces are ready to collect.

You won’t need to bring anything with you. We just ask that you arrive a few minutes early, wear clothes you won't mind getting a little muddy and leave any valuable jewellery (rings, watches) at home.
