What you'll do
Laughing Kookaburras are the largest kingfishers in the world. They are native to eastern mainland Australia. They live in dry eucalypt forests, woodlands, city parks, and gardens. We will paint this beautiful bird with high-quality Winsor & Newton professional watercolour paints. Participants will learn wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques. We will use both techniques to paint this Kookaburra and the background. The background is first painted with a mixture of colours on totally wet paper. Then we will focus on the Kookaburra details. With a lifting technique, we can add feathers and plumage.Artistic Facilitator: Ferie SadeghiFerie started her career as an interior architect and later as a graphic designer. Her background as a designer has given her strength in drawing, composition, perspective, and colour coordination. She loves the softness and the moodiness of watercolour; lately, she is also exploring other mediums like acrylic paint and alcohol inks.She exhibits her artworks regularly throughout the year. Recent awards are:
- a Highly Commended in the 2022 WSQ Annual Exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2020 The Australian Watercolour Muster
- a Third Prize in the 2019 EKKA exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2024 Brookfield Art Show
