Messy Makes is a creative workshop space for women who want to make, play and try something new — without the pressure to be perfect.

It’s for the craft-curious, the serial hobby collectors, the 3am Pinterest scrollers, and anyone with a cupboard full of supplies they absolutely *had* to buy… but are now too nice to use.

Hi, I’m Leoné — lifelong maker, creative rabbit-hole enthusiast, collector of far too many craft supplies, and the person behind Messy Makes.

I started Messy Makes because I wanted to create the kind of creative space I’d love to go to myself: somewhere relaxed and welcoming where women can get together, learn something new, have a laugh and spend a few glorious hours simply making things.

Because somewhere between childhood and adulthood, creativity got a bit… serious.

Suddenly things had to be good. Or useful. Or beautiful. Or worthy of posting on Instagram.

So we save the good paper.

We don’t use the expensive paint.

We buy the 48-pack because obviously the 12-pack simply will not do — and then become slightly terrified of actually using any of it.

And sometimes we get so caught up worrying about whether we’ll make something good that we forget the whole reason we wanted to make something in the first place:

because making stuff is FUN.

I’m learning to let go of that too.

Messy Makes is my invitation to do it together.

Our workshops are relaxed, welcoming and beginner-friendly. You don’t need to be artistic. You don’t need to be “crafty”. And you definitely don’t need to know what you’re doing.

I’ll bring the materials, show you where to start and give you enough guidance to get going. Then you get to experiment, play, change your mind, make something a little wonky and see where it takes you.

Come learn a new technique, meet lovely people and spend a few hours doing something purely for yourself.

Use the good supplies.

Try the thing.

Make it imperfect.
