Join us for a relaxing Brisbane class and learn how to create a “Kombi” pixel macrame wall hanging to take home at the end of the class.
In this all day class, which is perfect for beginners and intermediates, your friendly teacher will take you through all the steps of pixel macrame from designing a pixel pattern, learn how to read a pixel pattern to create striking macrame wall hangings, and also learning the only 1 knot for this type of pixel art macrame pattern. You will also learn how to add new colours into your pattern using the same knot.
Use this same process over and over to design other pixel art for hangings, cushions, baskets and bags of your own in the future.
What is Pixel Macrame?
A fun and repetitive, mindful knotting technique that allows you to recreate pixel art from numerous ways with only one simple macrame knot. Pixel macrame patterns vary depending on your project ranging from very easy to the more intricate.
At the end of the class you will be given a link to the tutorial so if you didn’t finish in the class you are able to complete easily at home.

Bag End Studio and The Artist Tree proudly present the Kombi Project as part of the BAD Festival in Yeerongpilly’s growing Creative Precinct. The Kombi, old, chronically flawed, ridiculously expensive never fails to bring on familiar smiles and treasured stories. An unlikely lifestyle icon for good times, and adventure the owners of Kombis invest an enormous amount of time, money and care into their beloved vans ensuring they remain relevant and valuable. We propose that the Kombi would make a great symbol to Value Growing Old and that if Handled with Care it is possible to tackle the pressing issues of aged care. Help us celebrate this icon with our Kombi-themed art and craft workshops, join our exhibition (all genres welcomed), tell us your Kombi stories or make your mark on our free public mural. Workshops include Intro to Metalsmithing with Meekz Contemporary Jewellery where you can make your own Kombi-themed jewellery out of recycled metals. Mixed Media Kombi Art Class by The Artist Tree to learn background layering and moving beyond the blank canvas, Pixelated Kombi Macrame Wall Hanging by Macrame Sweetness.
