Make and Paint Your Own Ceramic Mug Private Class

A private pottery class for events, where you'll make and paint your own ceramic mug at a venue of your choice!

2 hours Class size 6 to 12 guests

$80 ($50 per class surcharge applies for private classes) (PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Your own private two-hour pottery workshop, full of crafty chat, inspiration, and fun as you make your own mug! The private event is perfect for birthdays, hens' parties, or just a get-together with your favourite people! A great way to connect with your friends while creating your own pieces that you will have forever.
How it works:
  • You will get ~500g of clay.
  • I will take you through the steps to make your own ceramic mug, perfect for your morning beverage.
  • We will spend the first half of the session making the piece and the second half painting with a wide range of underglaze colours to choose from!
  • I will take your handmade beauty, and the ceramic fairies will finish your piece off for you (kiln firing and top glazing).
  • The mug will be fired and available for collection or shipping (for a small fee) approximately 4 weeks after the workshop, depending on kiln wait times.
  • It will be food safe, dishwasher friendly, and a magnificent addition to your handmade collection (or the start of one!).
  • All materials are provided; all you need to bring is yourself!
Some notes on glazing:
  • We will be using underglaze to paint the mugs.
  • Underglazes are designed for decorative painting only (not covering the entire mug in one colour), so challenge your creativity to come up with a pattern or design that you want to do!
  • I will have lots of inspiration and ideas for you to look through.
  • Underglazes will look different once they've worked their magic in the kiln, so test tiles are provided as your guide when choosing your colour palette.
  • Everyone of all abilities is welcome; however, you must be over 16 to attend.
Important things to note: I do my absolute best to guide you through the steps of making the mug and taking care of them throughout the drying and firing process. It is extremely rare; however, there is a small chance that cracks may appear in your finished cup. The best way to avoid this is to listen to the steps carefully, make your mug with care, and spend time during the workshop smoothing over any cracks that appear and sponging down your piece well before glazing. How your cup looks when you finish making it is how it will dry and look after firing, so do your best to smooth it out and remove any cracks or bumps that you don't want in the final piece!
What you'll get
  • All materials are provided.
  • Your own handmade and hand-painted ceramic mug (after it has been fired)!

I started crafty hobbies as a way of finding out more about myself, fulfilling a need to try new things and the ultimate desire to find a passion that wasn't my unfulfilling corporate job. I absolutely fell in love with putting a good audiobook or show on, zoning out from the world and making things with my hands. I find it deeply therapeutic and want to share that with others so they can feel the same!
I decided to start hosting events because I deeply wanted to be a part of a creative community on the Sunshine Coast but struggled to find something that tickled my fancy. I also find that the coast is a hard place to make new friends and was searching for a place that would enable that. I took a belated gap year (at the ripe age of 26) and used my free headspace to dream up a vision for what I wanted. I decided to say f*ck it and that when I got home, I would start hosting the events that I wish were available for me.
My ultimate dream is to build a space where people feel comfortable to try new things and come to make new friends. I want to encourage people to find hobbies outside of work and unlock the creative side of their brain that we all have.
I fixate on a new craft every week and I want people to ideally be able to come to each event and try something new every time. So the type of events I do change, but my favorites are:
  • make your own ceramic mug
  • junk journaling
  • BYO craft nights
I have been making ceramics for 3 years now, so that is my main area of interest, but I like to keep the events different and ensure I'm feeling inspired by them too. I started hosting these events in January 2023 and have met the most amazing, creative people who are just so nice to talk to and share ideas with.
My main target audience is women in their 20s-30s, but of course anyone is welcome <3
