How can we help?
Q: What experience do I need?
None at all! This workshop is perfect for complete beginners. You’ll be gently guided through each step by our friendly facilitators - no pottery experience required, just curiosity and a willingness to get creative.
Q: What will I make?
You’ll hand-build one matcha mug using beginner-friendly clay techniques. It’s a mindful, hands-on experience where you can personalise your mug’s shape, texture and finish.
Q: Do I get to take my mug home on the day?
Not quite! Your piece will be dried, fired and glazed in a beautiful speckled satin finish at our Fremantle studio. This process takes about 6–8 weeks, and you’ll receive a collection notice when it’s ready.
Q: Where do I collect my mug?
All pottery is fired and finished at our Fremantle studio, and pieces are available for collection within 4 weeks of firing completion. Even offsite/Subiaco sessions must be collected from our Fremantle studio. (No postage available.)
Q: What if my piece breaks during firing?
While we take the greatest care with every piece, pottery can be unpredictable and occasional breakages do happen inside the kiln. It’s a rare part of the process but completely normal in ceramics - it’s all part of the handmade charm!
Q: What’s included in the workshop?
• A guided, beginner-friendly pottery session focused on mindful hand-building • Signature experience: access to tea and coffee throughout the workshop • Matcha on Arrival upgrade: a ceremonial iced matcha to enjoy during the session • All clay, tools, materials, kiln firing and glazing included • One hand-built ceramic matcha mug, finished in a timeless speckled neutral glaze (additional items are $30 each). • Option to add a Swiirl Studio Matcha Kit to continue your matcha ritual at home
Q: Can I book this as a private or corporate workshop?
Yes! We offer private bookings and corporate team sessions across Perth. Get in touch to plan your creative team day! Please note there is a 10-person minimum for all private bookings.
Q: Can I still book a private workshop with less than 10 people?
Yes! We can still go ahead with the session with less than 10 attendees, but we will charge the minimum number.
Q: Where is the workshop held?
Workshops are hosted at our light-filled Happy Hub Collective studio in Fremantle. Offsite/mobile if you want the session brought to you (travel fees apply).
Q: Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourselves - we’ve got everything else covered! You’re welcome to bring snacks or nibbles if you’d like a little something to enjoy while you create.
Q: What if we want to make more than 1 x pottery item?
1 Complimentary firing and glazing is included. If you wish to keep additional creations, a $30 charge per piece is applicable to cover firing and glazing.
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: No cancellations, but free to reschedule up until 7 days before the class
Q: How long does the class run for, and what's the price?
A: 105 mins, $124 - $131 per guest ($124 for Without Matcha; $131 for Matcha on arrival. $75 per class surcharge applies for private classes)
