Looking for fun things to do in Brisbane? Join Istanbul Grand Bazaar on an adventure at a mosaic art workshop to create your own colourful and unique traditional Turkish mosaic lamp.
Traditional Turkish mosaic lamps have a long history and originated 5000 years ago. The mosaic lamps are made by hand, characterised by metals and then with the introduction of glass with plaster to join them.
Each Turkish mosaic lamp is special and unique. There are variable mosaic lampshades and different designs, which can easily be customised. You will never be able to find two equal ones.
In this two-and-a-half-hour workshop, you will be guided by your friendly teacher to make a Turkish mosaic lamp, which you can proudly take home.
This class is an excellent opportunity to spend quality time and have fun with your loved ones. Whether you're looking for birthday party ideas, Valentine's Day ideas or Mother's Day activities, this mosaic lamp making class will be a surefire way to celebrate any special occasion.

  • 5/5 from Nina King, attended Jul 2026: Sue, our teacher for our small group was friendly, patient and has a great eye for detail when helping to pick beads to add to fill the gaps between the glass pattern. It was an exceptional experience, with easy flowing chats , delightful Turkish coffee-tea and sweet treat of Turkish Delight. In store, you will find the great selection of lamp options. The lamps are quality made and are true to description online with detail. Highly recommend
  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jul 2026: There was an extra charge $15 to finish the lamp Or we could do it ourselves but it definitely is a better choice to get it done by them. This extra charge made it even more expensive. Also the event explanation says that Turkish coffee and delight would also be offered. We were just offered tea. It was a fun experience due to novelty and a nice store but I think it’s not worth the complete charge paid.
  • 3/5 from Brooke Waldron, attended Jul 2026: Not really a class where the teacher is assisting a lot you get given a template to choose from and off you go. Still was a good experience. However I paid for grouting and can clearly see this step was rushed, areas where it should have been grouted were missed. Grout was also not wiped off the tiles. Just disappointing when you put in the effort to make it and the step where the shop does it they rush it and it’s not done properly.

  • 5/5 from Jenny Kalf, attended Jun 2026: The class was great and our teacher was lovely providing us with plenty of guidance throughout. The change of location 20 minutes before our class started was very frustrating though, especially as we had driven along way for this class and this then made us late.
  • 5/5 from Joanne Roy, attended Jun 2026: If you need a diversion from the daily grind or the hassles of a busy life, this class is for you. Really simple. You don't need to be an artist. You will be surrounded by hundreds of lamps to provide inspiration. The class is a great opportunity to catch up with friends or maybe even meet new friends. The teacher is very knowledgeable and will even help you make your design perfect. Fully recommend attending this class. We will all be back to create a matching pair of lamps!

  • 5/5 from Christine Shardlow, attended Feb 2026: Excellent choice of classes on offer, online - process very simple. Teacher, Denise a gem, enhances the whole creative experience. Suggestion re Parking your car - don't park at Woolworths end of Westfield Chermside. Park at other end, rooftop - for disabled there is a lift (from memory) I followed some online recommendation to use Woolworths end, and walked a painful long distance in a Moonboot (recovering from a broken foot)
  • 5/5 from Tam Nguyen, attended Feb 2026: The teacher was very accommodating to us being late, and staying late. She gave us lots of freedom to experiment, but still provided advice when it was beneficial.
  • 5/5 from Mitch Hogfalt, attended Jan 2026: Hi I was lucky enough to be the only student today so I had the full attention of the teacher inram? She was so lovely to deal with and helped me do a wave on the lamp I was making. I enjoyed it so much I am going to back with a friend and make another lamp. It was a hard pattern to make but once the first pattern was set and explained fully it was all go!!
  • 5/5 from Nadine Etscheid, attended Jan 2026: Denise was my teacher at chermside store she was over the moon the best teacher I've had with children. My children have adhd and asd they get overwhelmed quick and quit but she kept composure I explained why they were like that and she turned it into a stress free happy zone the music she played was awesome some many different genres the kids were even singing along. I would love to bring my sister and mother to do a lamp. Maybe a birthday package deal for them as their birthdays are all a month apart lol. Now to find the time to get them away from their families lol. Thankyou thankyou thankyou. At first I did think a little expensive but the product the time the the teachers experience its all worth it. out of

  • 5/5 from Carrie Jackson, attended Dec 2025: A wonderful morning learning from Denise. I felt welcomed and at ease, even when the shop became busy. I could ask questions and was guided through each step. Highly recommended as a mindfulness or calming activity, as well as a social get together idea. Gift card from ClassBento was super easy to use and long expiry so I didn't feel rushed to choose something.
  • 5/5 from Carla Woodgate, attended Dec 2025: We attended our class at Chermside on Saturday morning. Our teacher was lovely, friendly, and very helpful. Although it did feel a bit understaffed, she handled everything really well. While we were there, a group of seven arrived with a booking for the same time, but the teacher hadn’t been made aware of it. She and the group worked together to organise another day and time, but it highlighted an issue with the booking system. Overall, the class was great, but I think the booking system needs a review to prevent overbooking in the future.
