I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. I studied Fine Arts, spent years working in weddings and events, ran a catering business, published a wedding magazine and built businesses around making things look beautiful. But the bit I’ve always loved most is simply making.

Lumina is really all of those years rolled into one place.

I created it because I think grown-ups forget how good it feels to make something just because they can. Kids already know. Give them a table full of materials and they’ll fossick, experiment, change their minds, make a glorious mess and proudly carry home something nobody else would have thought to make.

Somewhere along the way, adults get a bit more worried about being good at it.

That’s what I want to undo.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working creatively with people — from weddings and events to styling, publishing, workshops and now Lumina. I know how to put together a beautiful experience, but I’m much more interested in making creativity feel accessible than teaching everyone to make the exact same perfect thing.

At Lumina, there’s room to follow the instructions if you want them, ignore them if you don’t, try something, stuff it up, change direction and surprise yourself.

Because you don’t have to be an artist to be creative.

Sometimes you just need a table full of good stuff and permission to start.
