What you'll do

Join 18 Square Shed in a very unique workshop!

Make your very own traditional Scandinavian bracelet. Based on old designs of the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia, the Sámi. These braided bracelets date back to the Viking age. They are worn by both males and females.

The Bracelets are traditionally made from spun tin thread, reindeer leather, with reindeer antler buttons. In the workshop, we put an Australian twist to this Viking bracelet by using Kangaroo leather.

Your teacher, who grew up in Scandinavia (Sweden), will guide you through every step. In the class, you will learn how to braid the tin thread, measure and cut the leather, sew the braid to the leather, and the final assembly, to finish your very own Viking Bracelet.

The Tin Thread used in class contains 96% Tin and 4% Silver. It is Lead and Nickel free.

Hi, I am Emma, a leatherworker with many years of experience of crafting. I was taught by my beautiful mother at an early age how to sew and knit, the passion for handcrafts she sparked in me has continued to this day.

Leather is such an interesting material to work with, possibilities are almost endless as to what you can create, and I am always finding new avenues to explore.

I love teaching people how to create their very own leather items. I get such enjoyment seeing someone learn a new skill, and walk away from my workshops with not only a completed product but also with the confidence and knowledge to explore this craft on their own.
